Abstract: With the development of science and technology，the relationship between fighter and pilot becomes more complicated．The physical and psychological loads of the pilot are beyond the capability of man．There are a lot of uncertain factors influencing the pilot's and fighter's safety under this situation． In application to large screen display，the article summarizes the guidelines of designing the interface of the fighter cockpit．Taking the ecological interface design ( EID) theory as the basis，the abstract layers of display and control system are analyzed．A method of layout design is presented based on the GUI，ergonomic guidelines and the EID theory．A concrete design is made based on the system of F-18．
