Abstract
The main board central processing unit (CPU) cold plate in a blade server chassis adopts a copper ribbed radiator to achieve the thermal design of domestic CPU, but the four copper cold plates increase weight of the whole machine significantly. In order to solve the problem that the cold plate weight affects disassembly and maintenance of the equipment, combined with the structural characteristics of cold plates, heat pipe cold plates and uniform temperature plate cold plates in different structural forms have been designed and produced. The heat dissipation performance of pure metal (copper) cold plates, heat pipe cold plates and uniform temperature plate cold plates in the chassis are simulated and analyzed by ANSYS Workbench. Based on the simulation results, the actual heat dissipation effects of each type of cold plate in the chassis are tested and verified. The results show that the uniform temperature plate can not only achieve effective heat dissipation of domestic CPU, but also reduce equipment weight and thus optimize the design of original chassis cold plate.
