Abstract
In this paper the topology optimization is performed for the bracket to fasten a tethered balloon. The bracket has large structural geometry. Nonetheless, excellent load carrying capacity, lightweight and high stiffness/strength are required. Based on the topology optimization, the idiographic types of structure components, especially the layout of the primary-load bearing component are presented again. Besides, mechanical properties are studied by the numerical and experimental methods. The results indicate that the weight and structural stiffness/strength of the new design are superior to the old one and the parameters meet the requirements.
