Noise Analysis and Control for Pedestal Turntable of a Military Radar

    • The mechanism for the pedestal turntable noise of a military radar is analyzed and the actual noise is tested in this paper. At the same time the main noise sources are located accurately using spectral analysis and short-time Fourier transform methods. The noises from the main noise sources such as the motor speed reduction unit of turntable are controlled. The noise control measures for the turntable noise are proposed based on the existing feasible noise control technology. Test results from the turntable noise control shows that noise reduction measures have reduced the total noise of turntable by about 8 dB, so that the noise indicators meet the relevant requirements. The noise reduction method is feasible with good results, which provides the effective reference for the similar noise analysis and control.
