Design Improvements of Rotary Water Joint of a Search Radar

Abstract
Aiming at the leakage problem caused by the small dynamic seal compensation and the poor quality stability of the rotary water joint of a type of search radar, a novel mechanical seal structure is proposed in this paper. Based on the existing axial height and interface of the structure, new design improvements are carried out for the sealing mode, flow channel design and elastic elements and the key technologies of the improvements are pointed out. After a long period of test and application, no leakage has occured. After the test, the seal is disassembled and the sealing surface is basically free of wear. The service life requirements can be satisfied. It is proved that the improvement is effective and can be widely used in high speed search radar.
